FDC Distances Itself From Endorsing Any Candidate For Speakership

The Forum For Democratic Change (FDC) has distanced itself from endorsing anyone for speakership yet. This comes after two of the party’s members expressed interest in the speaker’s position. Geoffrey Ekanya and Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda have exhibited their interest in this seat and even spoken to the media. Of course, this was wrong because the party had not agreed on either or any other person.

Even so, the FDC deputy spokesperson, John Kikonyogo confirmed they were still undecided between the two. More so none of them has been endorsed. He said the party has different criteria members follow when they want different positions. The party is yet to call upon the persons who want this position to come forth.

“We said whoever wants to contest should approach the party electoral commission and we will choose the party flag bearer in case more than one aspirant shows up. As we stand, only two people have expressed interest and that is Hon Ssemujju Nganda for the speakership and Hon Yusuf Nsibambi for the deputy speaker,” he said.

Well, the speakership race this time around is going to be very interesting. There is too much anxiety from all members of parliament. Whether Kadaga will retain her position or not is also another story. However, some members from the opposition have sided with her already which has made the race even tighter.
