Fortebet Gives Lira Solid Waste Management Shs10M Boost

Fortebet, through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme has given a huge boost to Lira Municipality towards solid waste management. F0rtebet donated a brand new tri-cycle together with 60 sanitary aprons; all valued at Uganda shillings 10 million.

The handover was done on Tuesday by the company Chief Executive Manager, Bernard Rwakihembo together with one of the directors, Sergiu Sirghi at Lira district headquarters. The donation was received by the district deputy town clerk, Patrick Ogweng, deputy mayor, Lawrence Odongo Aliga and the acting principal commercial officer, Denis Ocaya.

In his brief speech shortly after the handover, Sergui said that, “Giving back to the community is one of the key areas we give attention to. We have made several donations in Gulu, Mbarara and many other areas. This is the reason that we have also come to Lira and we are happy to be part of the force to keep Lira clean,” Sergiu said. Rwakihembo thanked the district leadership for always welcoming Fortebet and asked for this relationship to keep burning.

The district leadership couldn’t hide their joy. Ogweng said that, “I am extremely happy to receive this donation because we have a big challenge in as far as solid waste management is concerned. Getting this donation at this time is perfect because we even should have received it yesterday.” He added, “I want to call upon all other companies to emulate Fortebet. I am certain you (Fortebet) have challenged many companies and organisations around. For example, we have over 10 betting companies in Lira but Fortebet is the best to do CSR for the district.”

In his remarks, the deputy mayor said, “This tri-cycle will help as so much in accessing some of the small corridors in town and markets. Since F0rtebet has proved beyond doubt that it is our good friend, I am also telling everyone in Lira to bet with Fortebet by way of appreciating it.”

Fortebet has heavily invested in the health and education sectors in addition to promoting games and sports. For example, Fortebet made a big donation to Uganda Police-Bwera, renovated a section of a school in Soroti and recently donated to Gulu rotary hospital.

Fortebet also gave out T-shirts and other gifts to the district workers that were present.
