This was attended by Kampala-based entertainment reporters and Journalists as Sebatta along with event promoters and organizers officially launched the concert.
The veteran singer was accompanied by the founder members of Matendo Gifted Singers. He confessed to the media that they started working with Sebatta in the early 1990s. These included Senga Justine Nantume and Ssalongo Dan Mugula among other female singers.
Sebatta thanked local events promoter Biggie Events for accepting to organize the concert to celebrate of his career milestone. The “Saamu Wange” singer also cautioned the current generation of musicians and artists against music content that is not in line with the Ugandan traditional cultures.
He stated;
“My advice to artists is that you can still do good music without being vulgar. The best technique is that you should learn musical instruments and start creating good and sensible music lyrics and vocals,”
On whether he sold his music catalog to General Salim Saleh, he said that he never did. This is because no amount of money can buy his music.
He blamed the Ugandan media for not promoting Kadongo Kamu Music. He added that this is the reason why this style of music disappeared from the Public
Promoter Biggie asked Ugandans to support Fred Sebatta because he is in need of finances to support his bills as he has not been performing for a very long time.
“My Prayer is to see Serena Hotel filled to capacity. This is because Sebatta is one of the living Kadongo Kamu legends that we still have in Uganda,” she said
