Has NUP Lost Track? Trolls Turn Against Party

Several and renowned social media trolls have taken to their social media platforms to express their dissatisfaction with their party, the National Unity Platform (NUP).

Some of them feel that their party has gone off track and the next general elections might be an abyss for them.

A one Kirya UG, who is famous for promoting Bobi Wine content said that the party lost it when they brought the vetting system.

They should have let the young people who started the struggle take it further and assume political positions. However, when they went into a vetting process, they threw the young capable, and hungry people out.

They then brought in the likes of Kazibwe Bashir, Twaha Kagabo who have gone ahead to cross to the MK Movement.

“NUP should have left the young generation that started their struggle to carry it on and even get chances to represent their people in the parliament. Imagine they went into vetting and ended up throwing the young people out then bringing in the old people. These Kazibwe Bashir(s), add on Kagabo Twaha, Lwanga Jimmy who even publicly crossed to the MK movement. If young people were given a chance through that vetting criteria, they wouldn’t have disappointed their voters. Kati labba struggle yafukka ya kku launchinga film.”

Another social media user who is also a strong NUP/Bobi Wine supporter said that some of the party MPs have totally done nothing. He pointed to some of them and wondered what they had really done.

“But the truth is, some NUP Mps have really been a disappointment to the people who put them in their positions. Look at Kazibwe Bashir, Mukasa Aloysius, Shamim Malende, the like of Geoffrey Lutaaya… You really wonder what these guys are doing.”

Additionally, an X user known as General Kyagulanyist took to Bobi Wine’s X Twitter page and called him out. This was as the singer/politician sympathized with Russian opposition leader Alex Navalny who died yesterday.

According to this social media user, Navalny was a true opposition leader because he was never always out in foreign countries.

“Those are the real opposition unlike you my President who is in and out of the country thrice a month…

Mr President, we need to start the groundwork, mobilizing the north and west. Your trips abroad are more than visits/tours in these regions… My President, we have work to do.”

Several opinions are still coming out to point out issues in which NUP has underperformed. One said that the party weakened itself in its stronghold, Masaka sub-region. It was not good to depose Hon Mathias Mpuuga as the leader of the opposition.

This is because NUP has many MPs there and the area is predominantly Catholic. These factors are crucial in Ugandan politics.
