I Would’ve Been Arrested Along With Arsenal Fans In Jinja – Former AIGP Asan Kasingye

Former AIGP and retired Police Officer, Asan Kasingye, has condemned the arrest of Arsenal fans in Jinja. In fact Kasingye, an ardent Arsenal fan said that he too would have been arrested if he had been there.

He added that whoever did this arrest lacked the common sense required for Law Enforcement Officers.

“Actually if I was in Jinja, most likely, I would have been arrested along with them. Whoever did it, lacked common sense required of LEOs.”

It should be recalled that yesterday’s news spread like wildfire across the globe. This was after about 8 Arsenal fans were arrested yesterday. They were moving in a convoy of about 5 vehicles and had a replica trophy bought from a local store.

Arsenal on Sunday scored a late winner in an emphatic game against rivals, Manchester United. This gave the Gunners a 5-point lead at the top of the Englisg tournament.

In Uganda, this is arguably the biggest football game as these two clubs have the biggest number of supporters.

The regional police boss James Mubbi another Arsenal fan wondered why these fans went crazy with celebrations. This is because there are still many games left to play. He also dismissed allegations that these were arrested on links to NUP.

“What would happen if an altercation with rival fans broke out? They did not inform police to provide security for their procession.”
