Kampala Queens’ Resty Nanziri Exits, Heads Out To China

Kampala Queens WFC striker Resty Nanziri has reportedly departed the club to join Chinese second-tier club Shanghai Qiusheng Donghua. According to Swift Sports, Nanziri, who was put on open market for sale by the club in May this year, will play professional football in China for the forthcoming season.

The forward was a key pillar as Kampala Queens won their first-ever FUFA Women Super League title last campaign. They had a successful unbeaten run.

Nanziri was the top scorer as she netted a decent eleven goals, the most of any other player in the league.

The Crested Cranes player joined Kampala Queens in 2018 after a stint with Uganda Martyrs Women’s Football Club.

It’s important to note that Shanghai Qiusheng Donghua competes in the Chinese Women’s Football League, the country’s second-tier league in the women’s setting.

The Kampala Queens last month saw their chances of progressing to the semifinals of the CAF Women’s Champions League nearly vanquish. This was after settling for a draw against CBE FC. The Queens came into the game needing three points to brighten their chances.

However, they failed to overcome the Ethiopian outfit. The draw left them with minimal chances but with the fate not in their hands.

In the game played at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru, CBE took an early lead through captain Loza Abera. The experienced forward tucked home in the second minute to send an early shock to the hosts.

A quick interplay saw CBE beat Kampala Queens press and Abera went through on goal, beat off the goalkeeper before firing into an empty net.

Despite stepping up efforts in search of the equalizer, CBE FC proved resilient. The goal for Kampala Queens only arrived deep into added time and it was not enough to guide them to the much-needed win.
