Nansana: Man Kills Lover, Attempts To Set House On Fire

Police in Nansana Municipality, Wakiso District are actively hunting for an unidentified man who is suspected to have stabbed to death his 22-year-old woman.

The suspect thereafter attempted to set the room on fire over the weekend. Police have identified the deceased as Rashidah Nakaddu, a former student of Buganda Royal Institute and Technical Institute-Mengo.

She was killed in the gruesome incident that happened in Nabweru North One Ward in Nansana Municipality in Wakiso District.

“The incident is believed to have happened on Saturday night when the two were together. Our preliminary investigations further reveal that the deceased has been receiving a male visitor over the weekends and he would always leave on Sunday. He has been visiting his lover on Saturdays and leaves on Sundays,” the Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson, Mr Luke Owoyesigyire said in a Sunday police statement.

“The suspect who is currently on the run, also tried to set the room on fire,” he added.

According to Mr Owoyesigyire, the deceased was hit several times. There were also signs of strangulation.

“The window glasses were shattered and the metallic door was cut by the first responders since the padlock had been locked from inside,” he said, adding that Nakaddu’s dress was also found soaked in blood stains.

“Her body was found with several stab wounds in the armpits, on the neck, arms and back. Whatever happened between them is still a mystery but our detectives are investigating to establish the facts,” Owoyesigyire explained.

Police retrieved the deceased’s body and conveyed it to Mulago City Mortuary for an autopsy report.
