None Of My Children Pursued Acting – Andrew Benon Kibuuka

Veteran actor and playwright Andrew Benon Kibuuka has lifted the lid about his career and family. The celebrated dramatist revealed that none of his children went after his profession in the theatre.

Apparently, one child tried acting but didn’t go far. The other one who is in the arts industry is pursuing music.

“None of my children exactly pursued acting talent. One of them attempted it in school but didn’t go far with it. On the other hand, the child who is inclined towards the arts is pursuing a career in music,” he said.

Kibuuka apparently studied to become a professional teacher. He added that back in the day, drama was considered to be for the academic weaklings.

It’s however taken seriously as of now. Besides, acting wasn’t even his first hobby. He was more interested in sports.

The Bakayimbira Drama Actors boss also talked about his relationship with another actor, Charles James Ssenkubuge. The two studied together in school.

They first acted together at school after encountering a problem with a literature paper. They were told that acting it would make it easy to understand.

Furthermore Andrew Benon Kibuuka said that the theatre needs to be revamped back to its golden days.

They were working on a show titled Cease Fire with the late Kato Lubwama. This was meant to showcase the value of theater and it will be produced soon.
