Top UPDF Commander Loses Life In A Bathroom Accident

The Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) has announced that one of their gallant leaders, Brigadier General Stephen Kiggundu has lost his life to a bathroom accident.

A statement signed by the Forces’ spokesperson, Brig Gen Felix Kulaigye confirmed this.

Kiggundu has been serving as the deputy commander of the UPDF’s Air Forces. The unfortunate incident happened on the evening of 31st March 2023 at the his home in Entebbe.

Apparently, the Brigadier General was very well the entire day according to the document. Things turned bad in the evening when he slid in the bathroom. Attempts to resuscitate him proved futile as the accident was severe.

“It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces inform the public of the untimely demise of Brig Gen Stephen Kigundu the Deputy Commander of UPDF Airforces which occurred in the evening of today 31 Mar 2024 at his official residence in Entebbe.

Brig Gen Stephen Kigundu was well all day until the evening of today(yesterday) when he met his death in his birth room.

The UPDF fraternity and Uganda Peoples Defence Forces Air forces will miss Brig Gen Kigundu at this time when his services were most needed to continue strengthening our Air force capabilities. May the soul of the fallen Brig Gen Steven rest in eternal peace.”

The well decorated military man has been just 47 years by the time of his death as he was born on the 3 April 1977 at Bugonga. He joined the UPDF on 27 July 1999 at Hoima. Kiggundu trained as paratrooper in Israel.

From there, he gained skills such as Pilot Air Force management and Operations, Pilot Combat Trainer and Junior Command Tactics. He also studied at the Air Command Staff College in the United States. Previously he served as the Squad Commander of the Uganda Fighter Jets.
