Two Types Of Coronaviruses That Infect Only Animals But Not Humans

According to the report published on CDC website, coronaviruses are a huge family of viruses, some of them cause cold-like diseases in humans, whilst others cause diseases in certain types of animals including cattle, bats and camels. Some coronaviruses like feline and canine coronaviruses infect only animals but do not infect people.

These viruses are widespread among cats and dogs population and may also lead to fatal illnesses such as feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) and pantropic canine coronavirus infection in cats and dogs, respectively.

The scientists are still learning about the viruses that causes covid-19, but it can spread from humans to animals in some circumstances.

However, it is reported that domestic animals such as dogs and cats can be infected with the virus that causes coronavirus especially after being in close contact with human beings with coronavirus.

If you confirm that you’re sick, you should avoid getting in contact with your pets and other animals just like you would with humans.

Infected pets may not have symptoms at all. Most pets that have gotten sick, only had unsevere illness and fully recovered.
