2 Ugandan Women Arrested In Sex Racket In India

Authorities in India have in detention two Ugandan women who were caught operating a sex racket in their apartment. The women were picked up by police in Pimpri Chinchwad in Maharashtra, about 130km south of Mumbai.

Police said the suspects were found running a sex racket from an apartment in a residential area in Sangvi.

Pimpri Chinchwad police also said the two Ugandans were attested with another Indian national. As per a press release issued Saturday, one of them had taken an apartment on rent in Vishal Nagar, Sangvi for running the sex racket. The police also booked the owner of the apartment.

They also revealed that one of the suspects who took the apartment on rent lured Indian girls as well as foreign nationals into the sex trade.

Local media quoted an officer Naik Sangita Jadhav of the anti-human trafficking unit saying the sting operation was carried out on Friday, August 18.

The suspects are now reportedly facing charges in relation to Sections 370 (3) (trafficking), and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code and various Sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and Foreigners Act.

According to the authorities, the Ugandans upon being questioned were found to have overstayed their visas.

The investigations revealed that the women from Uganda involved in the sex racket were overstaying… Further investigation is on,” said investigating police officer.
