A Look Back At Michael Essien’s Great Career

Michael Essien is a former Ghanaian football player who had an illustrious career, marked by numerous individual awards and titles won with various clubs. He was named the Ghana Player of the Year three times (in 2006, 2007, and 2009), and was also named the BBC African Footballer of the Year in 2006. In 2007, he was named the Chelsea Player of the Year, an award he would win again in 2009.

Despite suffering from a number of injuries throughout his career, Essien remained a consistent and influential player for the teams he represented. He was known for his ability to read the game and anticipate the movements of his opponents, as well as his physical strength and technical skill on the ball.

In addition to his on-field success, Essien has also been involved in various charitable initiatives throughout his career. He founded the Michael Essien Foundation in 2008, which works to improve the lives of underprivileged children in Ghana through education and sports programs.
