Botched circumcision leave 14 dead in South Africa

Botched circumcision is a traditional circumcision ceremony in South Africa and it is mostly in the eastern cape province.

Sizwe Kupelo spokes man for the health Ministry in the Eastern cape province on Sunday revealed that so far 14 are dead and 141 are injured of the botched circumcisions this year.

Nine patients from these people are waiting for a penis transplant which process is requested more after the first transplant which was performed in the city last year.

Another botched circumcision victim was a success.

The spokes man for the cooperative governance and traditional affairs minister in the eastern cape province Mamkeli Ngam said that the several initiation schools for the botched circumcision have been shut down within the area.

Last month, South African police rescued 11 teenage boys from forced circumcision after their parents reported that they had been taken from the streets to participate in the initiation.
