BUDAKA: 30-Year-Old Man Arrested For Defiling 2-Year-Old Daughter

The Police in Budaka District, eastern Uganda have launched investigations into a case of aggravated defilement. This is involving a 30-year-old man and a 1-year and 8-month-old female juvenile. Meta Robert, 30, a resident of Idudi ‘A’ in Nansanga sub-county, Budaka District was arrested on Tuesday, January 09, 2024. This was after the victim’s mother only identified as Ms Kaitake reported a case of aggravated defilement of her daughter to the LCI Chairperson of the village.

Preliminary information indicates that on Sunday, January 07, 2024, at around 08:00 pm, Ms Kataike was cooking food with her child while the husband (suspect) was in the house resting. However, when the child started crying, the suspect requested the mother to take her (the child) to the bedroom while the wife kept cooking food.

Shortly, Kataike narrates that she had the child crying loudly. Then the man came telling her that she had defecated on the bed. When Kataike went to clean the baby, she saw some blood drops on the bed sheets as well as in the baby’s private parts. When she asked the husband, he claimed the baby might have been injured by a stick.

Kataike did not accept which forced her to call neighbours and also inform the LC I Chairperson. The LC then took Meta Robert (suspect) to the police for action. They recorded statements from the wife and witnesses around.

“The victim and the suspect were examined by the police surgeon. The case file was opened on CRB 006/2024. The suspect was charged with aggravated defilement and is currently in police custody,” said the Bukedi North Region Police Spokesperson SP Samuel Semewo in a police statement.

He added that the suspected faces a charge of aggravated defilement. He will be arraigned in the courts of law once his case file is sanctioned by the district state attorney.

Sources have since established that Kataike and the suspect had been married for just four months. The former came to stay with him with the baby when she was a year and a few months old.
