Entebbe Expressway Cleared For Public Use

Following the rising insecurity that had grown ever since the Entebbe expressway was put into use, the 51 kilometer four lane road had become the hotspot for robberies and accidents because of the lack of street lights.

Earlier this morning there was an object suspected to be a bomb. This called upon the police to divert all vehicles along the expressway to use the old Entebbe Road for time being as the bomb squad continued to investigate the situation.

The minister of works and transport,General Katumba Wamala in 2022 had called for the deployment of security personnel on the road.

In a detailed letter addressed to the executive director of Uganda National Roads Authority Ms Allen Kagina, General wamala said :”the IGP proposes the deployment of three security vehicles to curb insecurity on the road and request that vehicles be exempted from the road toll fees to which I have no objection.”

This is intended to request and guide you to work with the Uganda police to beef up security. However when we communicated to Mr Allan Ssempebwa the UNRA media relations manager he said the directive of the minister had been implemented.
