FDC’s Possible Options To Replace Besigye In 2021 Presidential Election

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) is facing challenges at this point after the 4-time presidential candidate, Dr Kizza Besigye declined to run for presidency again in 2021 general election.

Kizza Besigye, who has challenged president Yoweri Museveni in the past 4 presidential elections since the year 2001, has from time to time accused president of rigging the poll.

His decision not to run for presidency in 2021 election race has left FDC stranded trying to look for who exactly will become the party’s flag bearer.

According to the party’s chairperson, Ambassador Biriggwa Wasswa, FDC has not run out of options for presidential flag bearer, even though Besigye is hard to replace, the party is having other capable leaders who are ready to cover that gap.

After Besigye’s decision not to carry the party’s presidential flag in 2021, the party is targeting other key leaders including Mr Lukwago Erias who joined the party just of recent, Mr Patrick Amuriat Oboi, Mr Nandala Mafabi and Mr Wasswa Biriggwa.

Dr Besigye last week revealed that Erias Lukwago is a very competent person who can carry the FDC flag in the 2021 General Election.

“What I like about Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago is the consistency and clarity in his political activities. He is clear on what the struggle is and he commits strongly to it. Mr Lukwago could make a good president for Uganda. But that is not the issue at hand,’ he added.
