I Have Confidence In The Kenya Judicial Process, Hon. Asuman Basalirwa

Bigiri Municipality MP, Asuman Basalirwa, has said he has confidence in the Kenya Judicial process. He said this regarding the petition of the elections of Kenya.

Raila Odinga filed a petition in court showing discontent over the results that announced William Ruto as winner of the Kenya Presidential Elections.

“The Kenya Supreme Court has distinguished itself in terms of fidelity to the law. Whatever decision they take, it will still be fidelity of the law. I have confidence in their judicial processes.”

He says this petition has raised issues that are beyond public observation. However, Basilirwa says on the face of it, the election in Nairobi was conducted transparently.

Some rallies they attended exhibited a lot of calmness. As observers, Basilirwa confirms they were allowed to take videos at the polling station and take photographs of form 34A, except for the polling boxes.

However, the petition raised some really important issues that were not as obvious.

“Looking at the gist of the petitions, there are about five issues to look at. Some of the concerns have to do with the mandate of the IEBC vis-a-vis the role of the Chairperson. Failure to include results from 27 constituencies. Allegedly tampering with the transmission processes. Inconsistent votes at some polling stations etc.”

Regardless, Basalirwa says Kenya has surely raised a standard in these Elections.

Uganda’s elections were like a battle field

In similar news earlier reported by NEWSLEXPOINT.com, opposition politician and NUPspokeperson, Joel Ssenyonyi, commended Kenya for holding peaceful elections in their country so far. Comparing Uganda to Kenya, he said elections in Uganda were like a battlefield.

However, in Kenya, no presidential candidate was arrested or even restrained in movement as it was here in Uganda during the 2021 elections.
