Kenyan Woman Married To White Man Says Marriage Isn’t Perfect: “We Always Apologize”

A Kenyan woman identified as Ndungu Nyeri based in Seattle, Washington, USA disclosed she met her husband on a dating website in United States in 2014.

When we met, we both were hoping to find someone who was ready to settle down, and it worked for us. We dated for one and half years before we got married.”

They had a small private wedding in 2015 in Florida. The Kenyan woman says no relationship is perfect

Njeri said just like any other usual relationship, theirs isn’t perfect, and they learnt that forgiveness is the key to a successful marriage.

Learn to forgive often, learn to listen to your partner not to respond but understand what they are saying and where they are coming from. Most of all decide to choose your person everyday,” she explained.

We solve our differences the best way we know, how we avoid going at it when the emotions are high if possible set a time and place where we get to express and explain how a situation made us feel. We apologize to each other often too.” She added.

The mother of two, who works at a prison in the United States, confessed that being in an interracial marriage, they encounter several challenges but have learnt to ignore critics. She said people always judge them for marrying from different races.

The beautiful mum disclosed her husband loves pasta, cooks more often for the family and loves ”Mukimo”, a traditional food for Kenyans too.

Kenyan woman teaches Kikuyu language to her kids

The woman’s firstborn child, a 3-and-a-half-year-old son, speaks Kikuyu language fluently, and she also said she would like to teach her 2nd-born son the language too.

He is fluent in English and I would say 85% speaks Kikuyu there are still words he cannot pronounce but we are still learning. We made it a habit when the dad is speaking to him he speaks English and I speak Kikuyu because we want them to learn and know both of their heritage,” she said.

My husband doesn’t speak any, but he can hear. My little one is yet to speak, but we are doing the same with him, introducing both languages.”
