Lawyer Mabirizi Is Now A Resident In Kitalya After Being Arrested

Controversial city lawyer, Male Mabirizi, is now a resident in Kitalya government prison after police arrested him. Mabirizi has been on the run for close to a week after High Court ordered his arrest to serve the 18 months punishment.

Kampala Metropolitan deputy Police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire said they later sent the controversial lawyer to Kitalya prison as the warrant of his arrest indicated.

According to Luke Owoyesigyire, Mabirizi reached Kitalya safely. Frank Baine, the prisons chairperson confirmed this as well. Justice Musa Ssekaana sentenced Mabirizi to 18 months in jail after the court found him guilty of contempt of court.

Before this, they had charged him to pay Ugshs 300M for the same. They warned him to stop disrespecting Judges but he just went on with it leading to his arrest.

Unfortunately, even when Justice Musa summoned him to court to defend himself, he didn’t show up. This just added more salt to the wound.

“Mabirizi never presented himself to court after being summoned. Neither did he file affidavits to deny the allegations against him. Court has been left with no option but to order for his arrest on sight and be taken to prison for 18 months,” Ssekaana ruled.

This means he has to be in prison for 18 months unless otherwise.

Mabirizi is popular mostly for picking up weird cases. He has almost sued every politician and government agency there is on some of the most laughable cases.

However, most of these he does on his own and on a pro-bono basis. He has also lost if not all of them, at least 90 percent.
