Mariam Ndagire Speaks Out On Why She Is Still Relevant In The Music Industry

Mariam Ndagire Reveals Why She Stopped Singing

Veteran female musician Mariam Ndagire has revealed why she stopped singing. Apparently, she was one of the best female singers in the 2000s. Her music up to now still sounds good and resonates with a lot of people.

However, she’s gone almost a decade and a half minus releasing any song.

Speaking during a local TV interview, Mariam said that she officially stopped singing in 2009. This was in a bid to concentrate on the film industry where she has also done exceptionally.

According to the Kiki Onvuma singer, she only sings at intimate occasions such as Birthday parties, weddings and things of that sort. But for public concerts, she no longer does that and this is partly due to her tight schedule in the film industry.

“I officially bade farewell to singing in 2009. Since then, I have been doing films. Most of my time now is consumed by the film industry. For singing I only sing at exclusive parties such as Birthdays, and weddings. But I no longer sing on concerts,” she said.

Mariam Ndagire was one of the biggest stars musically back in the day. She would later join the film industry where she met and got married to playwright, John Ssegawa. Their relationship, however, didn’t last long as they broke up but have a son together.

Besides her illustrious music career, she’s also excelled in film. Ndagire has written films such as Mama Tendo, Nsaali, You Can’t Break My Will, Dear Mum to mention but a few.
