NGO Donates Equipment To Women Group In Bwaise Worth Shs 20m

A women group in Bwaise, a Kampala suburb, under their umbrella Empowered at Dusk Women’s Association (EADWA) have received equipment worth sh20m from International Planned Parenthood Federation.

The donations come after their plea to Evelyne Petrus Barry to come to their rescue. Barry is the International Planned Parenthood Federation Africa Regional Director. They made this request in 2021 during her visit to the area.

The women group told Barry that they lacked equipment in their resting rooms, CCTV cameras to monitor the environment, chairs among other things.

Jackson Chekweko, the Executive Director of Reproductive Health Uganda (RHU) also said that the donation demonstrated the strong partnership between EADWA and RHU.

“This is a starting point for HRU to deliver family planning services and counseling to women,” he said.

Richard Mboizi, the Administrator EADWA said the facility receives about 50-60 women a day. However, they do not have enough equipment to accommodate them.

They donated items such as beds, mattresses, flat-screen TVs, chairs, cabins and CCTV cameras.

Additionally, EADWA is a woman-led organization advocating health services for valuable women like drug addicts.
