NRM Under Heavy Disagreements Between Museveni And Muhoozi 2026 Presidential Candidacy

The ruling party, the NRM, is without a doubt undergoing a power struggle between the old guard and the young guard. This has mainly centered around the presidential candidacy of President Museveni and his son, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

Sympathizers of Muhoozi have vehemently reiterated that it will be him on the ballot come 2026. They say that the old guard is tired and should make way for the younger generation to take charge.

Muhoozi has been on the boxing end of the NRM too calling it the most reactionary organization in the country.

He further at one time revealed that he doesn’t believe it and only believes in his father. Although Museveni has never come out to address his son’s political ambitions of running against him, sources say that he will be on the ballot in the next election.

Taking to her Twitter page, Evelyn Anite who is famed for the ‘we have the majje’ saying in the Togikwatako saga said that Museveni will be back. She said that since they were able to lift the age limit, nothing will stop them now.

“For the avoidance of doubt, we lifted the age limit. Team NRM, ignore the noise and clutter going around. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will be on the ballot in 2026 and the win will be massive. Temuva ku main. These sijuyi generators will not start.”

Kasambya County MP Hon David Kabanda on the hand who is a Muhoozi fanboy disputed this. He asked Anite why she can’t put her message across without demeaning those who differ with her in opinion.

“Can’t you push for your objectives without insulting or demeaning us who differ with you in opinion? The only challenge here is my love for you, otherwise, I would have sent a big missile.”

It’s not known whether this is a real power struggle or a script being played by the regime.
