Ntinda House Demolition Leads To Arrest Of Businessman

Police has revealed that they have in their custody a businessman involved in the Ntinda house demolition. Kampala Metropolitan deputy police commander, Luke Oweyisigirye, identified the businessman as Semakula Sulait. The suspect is the proprietor of Sema Property Consultants.

They arrested him on Friday and the police brought him in to explain how he bought the property which he demolished.

The property had three pre-existing owners who sold it to a buyer that died. Later, the same property got sold to Semakula who is claiming to be the owner.

“The only suspect we have so far is Semakula Sulait and Kira Road Police has also taken his statement. He was not given police bond, he is still in our custody because he is the one who bought the land, sold it to another person yet there were three owners of the property before him,” Mr Oweyisigirye said yesterday.

He also revealed that police impounded one grader involved in the Ntinda house demolition. Ms Natasha Mariam, the Public Relations Officer for the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, said she did not have sufficient information.

“There is a direct link between him, the people who sold it. Kira Road Police impounded the [suspected] grader, used to demolish the house,” she said.
