Parliament Seeks Investigation Into Kasese Attacks

Last week, suspected ADF rebels attacked a school in Kasese and murdered over 40 people, most of whom were students. This happened at Mpondwe Lhubiriha SS at the border between Uganda and DR Congo. Most of those killed were students at the school.

Consequently, Speaker Anita Among has called for immediate and fast investigations into the attack that saw 42 people lose their lives.

She said this should be done quickly before the case goes cold and the real culprits escape beyond reach.

“We want to condemn this loss in the strongest terms and such acts should be investigated and the perpetrators should be brought to book. It is a very bad incidence, just imagine you are killing your kid, or grandkids, you wake up from nowhere, you think your kid is at school and you just get the news that your kid has been killed,” Among lamented.

Yesterday, the House chaired by Among joined hands with the rest of the country to mourn the students that lost their lives.

She further demanded that government table before Parliament a statement in regard to the attacks.

During the sitting on Tuesday, Among regretted the incident. She later asked Prime Minister to explain the transpiration of the attacks.

At the moment, 20 people in total are behind bars in connection to the attacks that happened over the weekend.
