Police Arrests Two For Stealing Over Hundred National IDs

The Uganda Police have announced the arrest of two suspects who stole hundreds of National Identity Cards from an office where they had been deposited as collateral security for financial loans.

The two suspects were arrested in Kampala. They stole 104 National IDs and 4 million shillings.

This heist was led by a 22-year-old Kwikiriza Evans from Katuga East, Mitanda parish, Kiwunga subcounty Ntugamo district on 3rd September at 7:30pm.

Apparently, it was easy for him to access his loot since he was a loans officer at the looted company, T.M.K loans service in Kanaba-Ndejje Busabala road.

Apparently, it wasn’t Kwikiriza alone but with another suspect, Rubogo Sam. This was also a former employee of this company.

After being tipped off, the Kampala Metropolitan Police followed the suspects up to Kanungu-Kihihi. He was found with the exhibits in his bag. Currently, they are being detained at Jinja Road Police Station.

“The theft was planned by two people Kwikiriza Evans and Rubogo Sam who was also a former worker in the same company. The suspect was arrested after a tip-off and the flying squad of Kampala Metropolitan Police East started following the suspect up to Kanungu-Kihihi. He was arrested with the exhibit in his travel bag. The two suspects namely Kwikiriza Evans and Rubogo Sam are detained at Jinja Road Police Station.”

Despite Police barring the use of National IDs to acquire these loans, the habit has gone on unchecked. A lot of people countrywide always use these IDs to secure loans.
