President Museveni To Address The Nation Today

President Museveni Commences Wealth Creation Tours

Yesterday, the president of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni asked the Acholi people to embrace the four-acre model of farming to create wealth.

Apparently, this model reportedly accommodates multiple farming enterprises which can easily translate to wealth creation.

The president appeared in the Acholi sub-region to preach wealth creation and also share prosperity.

The  therefore asked the Acholi leaders to spare him from the drama in Apaa land. He said this because he apparently went there for very different reasons.

Museveni made these remarks as he addressed religious, cultural and political leaders across the Acholi Sub-region. They gathered at the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Fourth Infantry Division where he met them.

His remarks also doubled as a response to the opening statement by Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Nobert Mao. He briefed the president that the Acholi were ready to give him a listening ear and also tell him their problems.

One of the problems happened to be the Cabinet position to evict locals from the disputed Apaa land. He said this left the Acholi people and leaders worried.

“There have been many issues and the members of Acholi Parliamentary Group (APG) have a short presentation to make. The issues range from Apaa land, where you promised to form a judicial commission to investigate and come up with a solution, including the fate of our people in detention in Adjumani [District],” Mr Mao said.

There have even been some protests recently among the residents in the disputed land seeking reversal of the decision by the president.

They even petitioned Acholi Paramount Chief David Onen Acana II to protest this proposal by the government.

“We want the government to reverse the eviction decision and we petitioned Rwot Acana because he is the only highest cultural authority in this place that President Museveni can listen to,” Mr Charles Okot, one of the petitioners, said.
