Ragga Dee Reveals When He Shall Quit Music

Veteran musician Daniel Kazibwe aka Ragga Dee has revealed his plans of quitting active music. And it’s not as quick as you would think.

While appearing on the NBS Late Nights with another veteran TV presenter JKazooza, the singer said that he will only quit music when he dies. This is because it’s part of his life and therefore a way of living of his.

The Ndigida singer also narrated that he came up with his stage name, Ragga Dee. This was derived from the type of music (ragga) that he does and his real name, Daniel.

“Music is my life, I love it so much, and I won’t retire until I am dead.”

“My real name is Daniel Kazibwe. I do ragga music. When you add the two, (Ragga and Daniel), you get Ragga Dee. That’s how I came up with that name,” he said.

The musician is one of the pioneer members of Uganda’s mainstream music industry. He started his journey in the 1990’s and released a number of hit songs in the following years that propelled him to national fame.

Songs such as Letter O, Cash, Ndigida, Mbawe Empeta among others all became hits.

In fact the singer rose onto the scene before the likes of Bebe Cool, Bobi Wine and Dr Jose Chameleone. These are widely considered the real founders of the current mainstream industry.

Although he was musically successful, he didn’t enjoy a cult basis like the three artists. He reduced on the level of doing active music jumping into politics.

He also who is a successful entrepreneur has on several occasions contested for the Kampala lord mayoral office but lost.
