Sheffield United Posts Tribute To Former Player George Baldock Who Was Found Dead In Swimming Pool

Sheffield United, which plays in the English Championship, the second tier of England’s football, has taken to social media to post a tribute to their former player, George Baldock who was found dead in the swimming pool of his home.

The former Premier League side said that Baldock spent 7 years at Bramall Lane and was an extremely popular figure.  He however left this past summer for a new venture. It’s therefore with profound shock and distress that they learnt about his untimely passing.

“Sheffield United Football Club is shocked and extremely saddened to learn of the passing of former player, George Baldock. The defender left the club in the summer after seven years at Bramall Lane. He was extremely popular with supporters, staff and team-mates who pulled on a red and white shirt alongside him. The sincere condolences of everyone associated with Sheffield United are extended to George’s family and friends,” the club posted.

Various clubs from all across England’s football divisions also took to this post to sympathize with the club and the now-deceased footballer’s family.

He was playing for the Greek side, Panathinaikos which plays in the Greek Super League. The main cause of his death is yet to be ascertained but investigations are still ongoing.

Baldock was found unresponsive at his home in the swimming pool in Athens. Born in England, he decided to represent Greece at the international level through his grandmother’s Greek ancestry.

Furthermore, the defender started his career at MK Dons in 2010 and played for a couple of teams. Apparently, he had two brothers and one of them was an ex-footballer while the other a doctor. May his soul rest in peace.
