There Is Nothing To Celebrate On Independence – Bobi Wine

NUP leader Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine has revealed that there is nothing to celebrate today about Uganda’s independence. Taking to his X page, Kyagulanyi said that as Museveni and his cronies go to Kitgum for the Independence celebrations, NUP will take to their offices in Kamwokya for prayers.

They will pray for their comrades who were abducted and killed by the regime. He added that he will always assert that Uganda is yet to be free and therefore has nothing to celebrate yet.

According to the former presidential candidate, independence was never given to Ugandans. It was just a change of guard from the white colonialists to black colonialists who have even done worse.

“While dictator Museveni and his cronies will gather in Kitgum tomorrow to ‘celebrate independence, we shall gather at our offices in Kamwokya to pray for our comrades killed by the regime, those who were abducted and are still missing, as well as those in illegal detention.

We shall reaffirm that there is NOTHING TO CELEBRATE about independence because we are not independent!  It was simply a change of guard from white colonialists to black colonialists who have done even worse.”

According to Bobi Wine, Museveni and his comrades are simply going to celebrate looting and plundering the country for 40 years. For NUP, they will be joined by the families of their comrades lost in this struggle.

The former MP also added that they are going to dedicate a session for journalist Sesanga Batte. He said this journalist was recently ‘abducted by the regime.’

This NUP meeting however may not happen. This is because, as of early this morning, the Police and military have heavily deployed in Kamwokya.

This is to prevent anyone who might consider going to attend this “prayers” at the NUP head office.
