Uganda Airlines Set To Increase Its Fleet As President Museveni Meets Boeing Team

The Uganda Airlines is set to increase its fleet of airplanes after the President, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni met with a team of officials from passenger plane makers, Boeing.

The President took to his X page and narrated that he met with the president of the Boeing team in Africa, Mr. Kujit Ghata-Aura.

A team from Boeing, led by Mr. Kujit Ghata-Aura, the President of Boeing Africa, visited me at State House Entebbe.

The President added that the country has plans to increase its passenger and cargo planes. Additionally, the President also welcomed the idea of doing some light maintenance from the country.

Until then, maintenance services will be done in Ethiopia. This is until Uganda gets the ability to do the maintenance herself when the fleet has grown.

“A team from Boeing, led by Mr. Kujit Ghata-Aura, the President of Boeing Africa, visited me at State House Entebbe. We have plans to increase the Uganda Airlines fleet for both cargo and passenger aircraft. On fleet maintenance, I welcome the idea of having some light maintenance here initially. Where applicable, we hope to utilize existing capacity for maintenance service in brotherly countries like Ethiopia until our fleet grows to allow us to have it done fully in Uganda,” he said.

Since the Uganda Airlines carrier revived operations in August 2019, it has seen tremendous growth. As of now, the carrier has 6 planes. However, with the expected airplanes, the carrier routes are expected to expand.

It’s expected that flights to destinations such as Europe, Asia will be opened up. For now, the airlines do 13 destinations. And these include the likes of Boma, India, and Lagos in Nigeria which were achieved last year.
