Uganda Registers Third Coronavirus Death Today

Uganda has registered one coronavirus death today. This brings the total COVID-19 deaths to three. Results from COVID-19 tests done on 30 July 2020 confirmed 7 cases bringing the cumulative total of confirmed Ugandan cases to 1,154, according to the statement shared by Ministry of Health on it’s social media platforms this evening.

The deceased is a 67 year old male, of a Nigerian origin and a resident of Kisenyi  in Kampala. He had symptoms consistent to coronavirus which include cough, fever, chest pain and difficulty in breathing and sought treatment from a private clinic.

He later went to Kiruddu Referral Hospital where he was admitted and sample where taken off. Unfortunately he died on 29th July 2020. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

The sample analyzed at Uganda Virus Research Institute(UVRS) confirmed SARS –COVID-2 so far. 15 contacts have been listed.

The Health Ministry would also like to inform the public that samples were taken off from a 27 year old male, a resident of Namisindwa District, who collapsed and died on 29th July 2020. Results from the analysis at UVRI confirmed that he was negative for covid-19.

In the same vein, seven new positive cases were confirmed today. Out of the seven confirmed cases, two are cargo truck drivers who arrived from DR Congo and South Sudan via Bunagana and Elegu border entry points.

Two are contacts from previously confirmed cases, one from Namisindwa and one from Gulu Districts.
