“The Honourable Minister of Public Service informs the general public that Thursday 13th May 2021 is Eid-el- Fitr and will be observed as a public holiday throughout Uganda.”
Eid-el- Fitr was expected to happen today but since the crescent was not seen last night, it was pushed to tomorrow.
The director of Sharia at Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC), Sheikh Twaibu Ali Mpanso informed the Muslims. Moslems all over the nation are just getting ready for one of their big days happening tomorrow.
In any case, most of the people did not want Eid-el-Fitr to be on the same day as the swearing-in. Apart from them being two public holidays in one, they didn’t want it shared with what they want to call sneaky swearing-in.
On the lunar Islamic calendar, Ramadan is the ninth month. Fasting is the fourth pillar among the five that Moslems believe in. Part of the things they do during this period is abstaining from sex especially the unmarried.
Staying away from alcohol, dressing decently, especially the ladies. Helping the needy, especially helping them breaking their fast.
For the employees, this is a holiday since today is a public holiday as well. Work resumes on Friday for some while for others the weekend has kicked in with the new president sworn in.
