The acting District Health Officer (DHO), Anna Opio revealed this while meeting members of the Parliamentary Covid-19 taskforce.
MP Christopher Komakech attributed the high positivity rate to the use of home-based care.
‘’Imagine a father or mother who tests positive sharing a hut with the children. Is this self-isolation?’’ Komakech said.
Obwoya Fearless, the LCV of the district said the situation is made worse with lack of doctors at the Pajule Health Centre IV. Meanwhile, this is the only health facility in the district.
‘’Pader is hard to reach and hard to stay district. Despite the bad roads, we continue to refer our patients to Gulu Referral Hospital which is more than 100km away,’’ Obwoya said.
Emmanuel Ongiertho who represents Jonam County asked local leaders to stop politicking and join the police to enforce SOPs.
The DHO in Lamwo, Dr. Denis Omoyar Ochula informed the Parliament task force that they have tested 4,277 people.
Out of all those, 263 turned up with positive results of Covid-19. He added that Lamwo district received 3,240 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
3,338 people were vaccinated with the first dose and only 610 people for the second jab.
