Kyegegwa District Health Officer, Tedison Kandole revealed that 4- of these 60 people are from the Kyaka II refugee camp that is currently home to over 100,000 Congolese refugees.
Of the Ugandan nationals who have so far tested positive in the district, seven are teachers. The others include a health worker and a student according to Kandole.
“We have realised 60 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Kyegegwa in the last two weeks,” Kandole said.
He further said the camp has registered many cases due to the strict Covid-19 screening and resting there. He says that his office has retained all government health facilities in the district to resume Covid-19 screening and testing.
Apparently, they have admitted only four of the patients currently into the hospital. Kandole explained that all the other patients are managed under home care.
He said those in hospital are responding well to treatment. They will soon discharge them.
