Over 700 Churches Are Closed In Rwanda

Rwanda has closed over 700 churches due to noise pollution. Pentecostal churches were most closed and also one mosque was closed down.

Despite the closure of some churches, an official of Rwanda revealed that some of them were reopened immediately after they were inspected and approved later.

According to the New Times, the closure of churches was carried out by the local authorities and supported by the Rwanda governance board.

The Rwanda governance Board claims that over 700 churches are illegal

Justus Kangwagye, a government official said that the government simply required the churches to meet the required standards.

The requirements included;

All preachers must have theological training before opening a church.

The churches need a sound proof building that can hold a capacity of over 500 people
