Abiriga was supposed to appear in court on Friday but his lawyer Usama Sebuufu told grade one magistrate Moses Nabende that his client was unable to attend due to state duties.

“We were served with the summons yesterday but one (Wednesday) and by that time he had already travelled to his constituency, “Sebuufu told court.

The state prosecutor Hillary Musimenta however told court that Abiriga had been served with the criminal summons early enough through the Speaker of Parliament.“He personally acknowledged receipt of the summons, “Musimenta said.

The City Hall court Magistrate however extended the criminal summons before adjourning the case to October 25.
A photo of a man dressed in a yellow shirt and cap defecating near the entrance of the ministry of finance went viral on social media attracting debate over whether such behavior befits a Member of Parliament.

He would later be summoned to answer charges related to  committing a nuisance by easing in public contrary to the maintenance of law and order ordinance 2006 of the local governments.

Abiriga would later admit that he was the one in the picture easing himself.

“I was badly off. Should I have kept urine on myself? What is the problem with that?” Abiriga said in an interview at parliament on Tuesday.

Abiriga’s name has become a household figure for being one of those at the forefront of advocating  for lifting  of the  age limit.

Article 102 (b) of the Constitution stipulates 35 and 75  the lowest and highest age limits for a presidential candidate
