Abitex is remanded on charges of Negligence over his end-of-year fete he hosted at Freedom City that took the lives of revelers and left others terribly ill.
According to Uganda Police, Abitex put profits over the lives of people because his concert had very many people than the actual number that is supposed to be hosted in that venue.
Police said they are even investigating how children below 18 years were able to access the concert up to midnight which is not allowed.
Children’s concerts are supposed to be alcohol-free and they are to happen during the day, not at night.
“We have also established that the organizers put profits before the safety of revelers and concert-goers, by using only one gate on the assumption, that other non-ticketed persons would take advantage and gain entry. We are also investigating circumstances under which young children between 10 – 17 years, gained entry into the venue,” they said.
Different promoters have come out to fight for their president Abitex. According to these promoters, it wasn’t Abitex’s fault, it is the Mcee that made the mistake.
This is when he told people to go in a certain position that they are not supposed to. Promoters asked Gen Salim Saleh to help them get Abitex from prison because what happened was just an accident.
