Bobi Wine made the speech about musicians begging at the late Kato Lubwama’s burial. Ever since Mr Wine joined politics, he has been raising his voice in the art industry, especially to government officials.
He has continuously demanded musicians not to accept the little money given to them by the government, they should fight for things like copyright that will benefit everyone.
Recently there is a Federation known as the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) led by Eddy Kenzo was formed. Rumor have it that it was formed purposely to get money from the government.
Bobi Wine is not happy about it. During his speech, he said the money that will be given to them is very little and can’t do anything for the industry.
According to Hannington Bugingo, he doesn’t think Bobi Wine made the speech basing on his political side. He also said Ugandan musicians should unite and start earning from their sweat.
“All Ugandan artistes shouldn’t be beggars! We have to put our political differences aside and unite to start to seriously earn from our Sweat! Thank you my brother and fellow alumni @HEBobiwine for these warm and enlightening words to all those that have ears 👂 to listen !,” Bugingo Hannington tweeted.
