One of the most distinguished and well respected news anchors in the country, Andrew Kyamagero has quit his job at the Nation Media-owned NTV Uganda. Kyamagero has been at the Kampala Serena-based TV station since 2018 anchoring the English news bulletin.
However after 6 years, he deemed it right to take a step back from this job.
Taking to his X page, he expressed his gratitude to all those who have always tuned in to watch his news episodes. He also appreciated NTV for the opportunity availed to him to realize his dreams and profession.
Read his statement below;
“After years of sharing and anchoring the stories that shaped us as a nation, I am humbled by the unwavering support of you, our great viewers. Thank you for trusting me to bring the news that defined who we are. Deep gratitude to @ntvuganda for offering me a platform to serve my country in various capacities. Tonight marks my last bulletin. It’s been an honor and privilege to serve you all,” he said.
His followers took to the announcement to thank him for the job well done and wish him the best in his next endeavors. The station has in the last few months lost some of its distinguished presenters, especially news anchors.
The likes of Faridah Nakazibwe, Ritah Kanya Mujuni among others have all left the station. Luckily for NTV, they are no longer being poached by their rivals, NBS TV. They are simply quitting to other jobs preferably away from the camera eye.
Kyamagero did not disclose his next step after NTV. However, it definitely won’t be the last time he is appearing on the screens.
He has cut a figure as a marriage counselor who is usually hosted on different family programs to dissect certain issues.
