Mwenda says people will hide under this law thinking they don’t owe Ugandans an explanation.
“I think when you take a public job, your personality, your character, and conduct, even at a private level, must be subjected to criticism and public scrutiny.”
In fact he says even the law itself is subject to criticism.
“I am a public journalist. I have made my career criticizing others, so I feel like the law shouldn’t be given an exemption from criticism.”
Andrew Mwenda opened up and said he has also been accused of a number of things but he has never gone to court. However some members of the public say he has just mature.
“Your approach shows the highest level of tolerance and maturity. Some allegations shouldn’t be dignified with a response or action,” a one Jamil Mujuzi said.
Mwenda has joined several other people who think public figures supporting this law just want to get away with the way they do things. However, Ugandans don’t seem ready to accept this at all.
