In Uganda, there are so many television and radio stations. However, a few are professional and pay workers in time.
Most of these media houses use workers saying they are giving them a platform and that should be enough. They forget that people who work also have responsibilities and people to take care of.
There are other television and radio stations of pastors. Workers there are said to be working for God and can’t get any penny.
Those that are paid, their salaries are cut half because they have to give God tithes. All these is unprofessional, and people keep complaining but no action is taking place against the owners of the television and radio stations.
According to the speaker of Parliament, journalists do a very big and hard job. They are some of the people that should be paid highly and in time because without them, the whole country is not informed.
She urged the owners of media houses that are not paying workers to be considerate and do the needful.
