They have been saying they even pay Kampala deejays to play their music but unfortunately they don’t hear any of their songs making rounds.
The media under values most these regional musicians. They even tell them that they cannot play their music on TV and radio stations because of the poor quality.
Months ago, Ray G from Western Uganda almost beat up a journalist who introduced him as a regional Musician.
He further said he has crossed boarders and he also doesn’t sing for people only in the Western part of Uganda. His fans are all over the country and that can’t allow him to be limited by journalists.
Now Balaam Barugahara has also added his voice to those musicians outside Kampala. He said it is true the media has done a lot to put them down.
According to Balaam if the media had given these musicians enough airplay and time, they wouldn’t even need to come to Kampala to promote their music. Everything would be done from where they are.
“The media has not done enough to promote regional musicians. These artistes just need simple things like airplay and time. They can make it without coming to the city,” – Events promoter Balaam
