Benon Mugumbya Reveals Why Swangz Avenue Started It’s Own Academy

The production director of Swangz Avenue Benon Mugumbya has revealed the reasons why his company decided to start its own academy.

Swangz Avenue is one of the biggest Record labels in Uganda at the moment. It has five musicians all doing well. That is something that hasn’t happened to other record labels before.

Some do well for a few years and later collapse. However, Swangz Avenue has built and maintained its brand for so many years.

According to Benon Mugumbya, this is very different because they groom their own people from scratch. When it comes to musicians, they spot talent from a distance and after signing them, they take their musicians into a series of learning.

He also revealed that with many artists signed under them, they decided to start an academy specifically for producers, editors, directors and videographers.

The main reason is that as Swangz Avenue, they have realized that there is going to be a shortage of editors, producers and other related professionals in the future.

They decided to start teaching the young generation those courses and in the meantime, they are doing well. He said some have graduated and even got employed at Swangz Avenue.

“Last year, we started an academy out of necessity. This is because we realized that there would be a shortage of editors, producers, and other related professionals in the future. The school has been performing well, and occasionally, we even hire some of our students,”. he said.
