Promoters throughout their association, Uganda Promoters Association, have set standard prices for paying all artistes. Big Eye however be paid the least amount of all artistes and Bobi Wine to be paid the most.
The payment rank puts Mathias Walukaga at 700k, Fik Fameica 2 million, and Big Eye at 500K. This came after different promoters complained about artists asking for high amounts of money to perform at events and leaving them in so much debt.
The artists that they complained about are Pallaso who increased his price after Covid-19 and legendary artiste Juliana Kanyomozi who usually asks for more than 10 million to perform.
According to promoters, some artists don’t understand that singing is business and promoters also do it to get money. Some of the artists know that they can’t pull out the crowd or even bring people to the event.
Through the list released, apart from Bobi Wine, other artistes are going to be paid below 6 million as the standard price tag in this new year 2023.
It should be noted that Bajjo as a promoter started complaining about the prices after Covid-19 lockdown in 2021-22. He was more on Pallaso saying he is asking a lot of money just because he released songs during Covid-19.
However, he is not worth that money. Bajjo also said if Pallaso keeps his price tag high, he will not stay longer in the music industry.
