Bill Gates Stepped Down From Microsoft Board As Investigations Into His Infidelity Took Center Stage

In March 2020, Bill Gates stepped down from the board as it investigated the billionaire’s relationship with an employee in the company.

According to reports, it is said that this affair lasted for almost 20 years before being discovered.

A spokesperson for Gates told reporters that the 20-year-old relationship ended amicably. To add to this, she also said Gates left Microsoft to focus more on his philanthropic organization, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

After 27 years of marriage, the two co-founders of this foundation, formed to battle global poverty and disease announced their divorce.

Microsoft, through a spokesperson, said the company received an alert in 2019 that Gates initiated a relationship with an employee in 2000. A committee of the board reviewed the concern, with aid from an outside law firm, to conduct a thorough investigation.

The employee, an engineer at Microsoft claimed in a letter that she had a sexual relationship with Bill. This relationship lasted several years.

In other news, there were also questions about links between Gates and disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein. Jeffrey killed himself in prison in 2019 as he awaited trial for allegedly trafficking minors.

Gates’ team assured the board that he had met Jeffrey for philanthropic reasons and regretted doing so.
