Hon. Kyagulanyi said it was so easy for the president to allow the NRM primaries to take place with almost no social distancing. NRM used lining behind the candidates as a way of voting during it’s primaries. Definitely this was done in the presence of the army and the Police.
Bobi Wine said the president is just keeping opposition leaders under lockdown. He added that because NRM is done with her primaries, more restrictions may even be added. MP Robert Kyagulanyi thinks the closure of churches is just a shadow of the real thing, which is totally political in nature.
Worship places were part of the first public gathering places to be closed in March. So little has been said about the opening of churches since every time it comes up, the president calls for inquiries. During his last address, he had tasked the inter-religious council to meet with the Covid-19 task force. This meeting was supposed to determine whether the churches will open or not.
Some religious leaders have even openly come out and accused the president of being unfair to them. Some religious leaders even started campaigns to see that churches can open. All this so far has been in vain, perhaps until the next presidential address.
