Breaking News: Gen. Elly Tumwine Dead

The former Security Minister, Gen Elly Tumwine has as of this morning passed away according to reports. A high-ranking UPDF official revealed that the deceased breathed his last from Aga Khan hospital in Nairobi.

His family revealed that the general had been battling cancer for a while before it finally claimed him.

Apparently, the deceased collapsed while attending a marriage ceremony for a prominent female journalist. Following this, his family booked him at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala.

While there, his situation worsened which led to his airlifting to Kenya for better healthcare.

A couple of days ago, it should be noted that the hashtag “RIP Gen Elly Tumwine” trended on social media. This happened shortly after Tumwine’s departure to Kenya when rumor started spreading that he is dead.

The UPDF came out to condemn social media antics for spreading this rumor. The deceased’s daughter, Cynthia Tumwine also came out to trash the claims that her father is dead.

“Adversity will teach you so much about human nature. That said I wouldn’t wish the last 24 hours on anyone. Time travel needs to undo social media because it’s currently in the pits. God is faithful regardless though. We give him praise,” she tweeted.

However though, we are yet to hear any response from the family about the details surrounding this unfortunate demise.

This is a developing story, we will keep you posted….
