Carpenters in Mutungo have accused UNRA of blocking their customers after a junction that branched off to their facility got blocked. They have appealed to the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) to restore this junction as they are losing clients.
The carpenters revealed how their sales have plummeted since big clients end up buying similar products from other places.
Apparently, clients have to drive all the way up to Munyonyo junction so as to access the facility. So I order to save that cost and still get what they need, they look for alternative options.
“We call on UNRA to consider restoring our former road junction because it used to help our customers access the new facility to buy some of our products,” a representative from the carpentry traders’ umbrella Kigo-Mutungo Carpentry Alliance and Training Center said.
His colleagues supported this and they urged UNRA to devise means to solve this issue affecting them financially.
UNRA removed the junction due to ongoing project works but the authority said it will look into the issue and solve it amicably.
In other news earlier reported by NEWSLEXPOINT.com, the Electoral Commission (EC) was officially set to give its former offices on Jinja Road to the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA).
The move was aimed at paving way for the construction of the Kampala Flyover and the road upgrading project. The EC spokesperson, Mr. Paul Bukenya said the handover will be handled by Justice Simon Mugenyi Byabakama, the electoral body’s chairperson.
