Celebrating Another Independence While In Lockdown, 59 Years Of Freedom

A few days from now, Uganda will be celebrating 59 years of Independence. However, just like last year, even now the country is still under Lockdown.

Much as transport may be open and other sectors working, public gatherings are still so much prohibited.

Trends of celebration have been changed since the coming of Covid because there is not much safety as there was before.

People are so much disappointed because they probably thought by now, this wouldn’t have been an issue.

However, it looks like there is not much to do but to rather adhere to directives. Independence day is one of the most celebrated day in the country.

Musicians used to make a lot of money out of the concerts planned out. Currently, though, concerts are on hold unless if it’s virtual.

The music industry has endeavored to keep its fans very entertained even amidst the lockdown. This is why they came up with the Ug Connect Concerts that are virtual.

Even on Independence day, Saturday, 9th, they have scheduled a concert to entertain music lovers and also keep artists busy. At first, it seemed so boring but people have embraced this kind of celebration of late.

Meanwhile, as for the people that used to flood Kololo Independence grounds, they are also glued to Television and Radio.

The president though in his last speech said that if they reach their target number of people to be vaccinated, gatherings will be allowed but monitored too.

With all this said and done, vaccination looks like the only option and way back to life as we were used to it.
