When asked how her fiancé, Olympian Gold medalist Cheptegei asked for her hand in marriage, she had this to say, ‘’Josh proposed to me when he was still an ordinary man who could only afford to rent a single bedroom house.’’
The two met in 2014 at Christ Alive Glorious Church, Kapchorwa where they are ardent church members.
Honesty, integrity, the love for God, and trust, Kamari says were the magical spark behind her acceptance.
‘’In 2014 when he proposed, I told myself, ‘well, he might be struggling today but let me accept Cheptegei’s marriage proposal. And, allow God to do the rest,’’ Kamari recalled.
Today, Cheptegei is a reigning world champion (Doha 2019), Olympic Silver and Gold medalist (Tokyo 2020). He is also a former junior world champion in Oregon 2015.
The Kapchorwa born runner also holds national and international records in 5,000m and 10,000m respectively.
Cheptegei is arguably Uganda’s most decorated sports personality of all time.
Therefore, to celebrate their matrimonial union, the celebrated speed merchant and his fiancée Kamari have announced their introduction ceremony for October 30.
When they asked Kamari why it took her this long to introduce Cheptegei to her parents, Kamari said she wanted him to focus on athletics first.
‘’There is time for everything. He had to focus on his career and compete in several national and international events,’’ Kamari said
She is a practicing civil engineer. She designed and led the construction of their multimillion home in Kapchorwa municipality.
